About

The Mission

Our mission is to create design icons, beautiful, sophisticated, comfortable and sustainable pieces that can stand the test of time, furnishing houses of international clients, and realized with craftsmanship, thus unique.

The Background

Born from the experience of Matteo De Ponti, architect, who grew up in one of the most outstanding Milanese design families, and the artistic sensibility of Laura Macagno, degree in Economics and passionate of art and design. Our expressive research is inspired by the utopian force of Italian eminences grises architects and designers of the ’50s, the Scandinavian design, the Bauhaus, ethnic handcraft and houses of famous writers of the XX century, all different as a style but united by the intense soul of those who worked and lived there.

Our pieces draw inspiration from trips to far lands, starting from Argentina, Laura’s birthplace, where our dream begins. From there comes the name Colé, tied to a common memory. An element of colour which makes us happy just thinking about it.

We deeply love arts and artists such as Mondrian, De Chirico, Fontana, Sonia Delaunay, Moholy Nagy, Brancusi, the graphic genius of Escher, as all artists who wrote the code of modernity.

The muse of our every piece is thus Art and a shared passion for everything that comes from careful aesthetic research, whether it is a furniture, a book or a rug, always considering the practicality for a contemporary use.

We have always collected objects that have in common the fact of being made with craftsmanship, and consequently with a soul. Fragments of memory in which you grasp, at first glance, the touch of the hand that worked to forge them. The collection stems from references to traditional furniture with a certain degree of semiotic contamination of materials and cultures, which leads to reread in a light and ironic way
many archetypal forms.

In collaboration with established worldwide designers, these collections are born from an artisan and semi-industrial work of valorization rooted in our Italian territory, a land of great art and culture.
